Title: Some users can't access the new Microsoft Teams desktop client after installing a specific system driver
User impact: Users can’t access the new Microsoft Teams desktop client after installing a specific system driver.
More info: Impact is limited to a small subset of users who have installed Pleora eBus SDK on their Windows device. While we work to resolve this issue, affected users can bypass impact by uninstalling the affected driver using the following steps:
1. Open the command prompt with administrator privileges.
2. Run the following commands:
- cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Pleora\eBUS SDK
regsvr32 /u PvDSSource64.ax
- cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Pleora\eBUS SDK
regsvr32 /u PvDSSource.ax
Current status: Our investigation has determined that a code issue within the new Microsoft Teams desktop client code base is preventing the client from starting after the affected driver is installed, leading to impact. We're developing a fix to repair the code error and remediate this issue. Development of this fix is in its early stages, and we currently anticipate that it will reach affected users and remediate impact by the end of May 2024. We'll provide a more precise timeline to resolution as it becomes available.
Scope of impact: Any user attempting to access the Microsoft Teams desktop client after installing Pleora eBus SDK on their Windows device may be impacted.
Root cause: A code issue within the new Microsoft Teams desktop client code base is preventing the client from starting after the affected driver is installed, leading to impact.

Title: Some users' Microsoft Teams clients may freeze when attempting to access the Teams menu in the sidebar
User impact: Users' Microsoft Teams clients may freeze when attempting to access the Teams menu in the sidebar.
More info: Users receive an unexpected error message stating "You don't have access to this channel. Contact the owner ... to get access." despite having proper permissions. Please note that if users don't receive this error message, it's not related to this event and needs to be investigated independently.
This can affect users on both the web and desktop clients running the new Microsoft Teams. While we're focused on remediation, users may able to avoid impact by utilizing the classic Microsoft Teams experience.
Impacted users may be able to resolve the frozen client issue by proceeding with the following steps:
1. Sign out of Microsoft Teams.
2. Completely close out of the Microsoft Teams client by right-clicking on the system tray and hitting "Quit Teams", or by closing the browser window.
3. Reopen the Teams client and sign back in.
Current status: We've completed our validation of the fix and are proceeding with rolling out the fix through two methods. The first will be as part of the latest Microsoft Teams build and the other method is to include the fix in the current Microsoft Teams build, which uses alternate deployment infrastructure to provide updates to previous builds. We expect to have a confirmed timeline with our next scheduled update for both of these methods.
Scope of impact: Some users attempting to access the Teams menu through the sidebar in the new Microsoft Teams web and desktop clients may be impacted.
Start time: Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 5:09 AM UTC
Root cause: A recent service update introduced an issue where users' default channel information isn't being called as expected in the new Microsoft Teams, resulting in impact.
